I’ve always loved that weird piece of artwork in front of the St Lazare train station in Paris, but I had a hard time framing it in a way that worked. I think this one does it, what do you think ?
If you look around photo sharing sites, you’ll see that municipal bikes seem to be an inspiring subject for urban photographers. I’ve always found the shape of the Parisian Velib particularly interesting. I shot Velibs before (as on this shot, Velib Galore) but on this shot I really focused on the repetition of the curb of the handlebar, which makes it more abstract.
When you live in Paris (or, as is my case, just outside of Paris) youu kind of take the city for granted. And then, one evening you take your camera and beanbag out and you see it like that. And you go “Wow! Paris really IS beautiful…”

An amazing set of photos and a superb history of the Parisian Metro and the abandoned strands of its network can be found in Demolition of the Paris Metro.

This is probably my best street shot so far. I’ve tried hanging around the guys who frequently do giant soap bubbles near Beaubourg in the hope of improving on it, but it’s so damn hard to get it right (especially with all the kids jumping around trying to burst the bubbles…)
